About Diane Sullivan
I have been working full time in clay for 30 years! That is what my fingers and toes tell me! And how lucky I am because I’m still having fun doing it.
In 1994 I graduated with my Masters of Fine Art in Ceramic Art from the University of Washington in Seattle, having done my undergraduate on the other coast at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (1992). Originally from Ontario, I decided to settle in Alberta after school having been invited to do a residency at the Banff Centre for Fine Arts.
Calgary was a nice quiet pre-boomtown then with a welcoming arts community and affordable living and studio space for an artist. There I began my pottery line, Arabesque Pottery; a line of ornately decorated porcelain serving ware. While marketing this line through North America by way of wholesale, retail and consignment sales, I successfully pursued an international exhibition career of larger palace pots and sculptures. I have been the fortunate recipient of numerous grants and awards over the years for my work, partaken in many artist residencies and have presented at a long list of conferences and workshops(see my CV at www.dianesullivan.ca). My work is in many private and public collections, including that of our Canadian government!
In 2008, growing disenchanted with boom time life out west, I returned to Ontario, purchasing my dream building in Williamsburg, where I currently sling the mud in my dedicated studio/gallery/home.
I now sell exclusively at shows, at my Williamsburg location or on this website.
